Welcome! Praised be Jesus Christ, now and forever. This site is brand new. CatholiCurrent tracks current Catholic events and issues, provides commentary from a Catholic perspective that is faithful to the Magisterium and offers a forum for respectful dialogue based on faith and reason. CatholiCurrent is also a resource to grow in knowledge of our Catholic faith. The name of the site is intended to reflect its focus on current events but also the movement, direction or "current" of the Church under the guidance of the Holy Spirit.
The tenor and focus of CatholiCurrent is to approach the challenging issues in the Church and world today with reason and logic enlightened by faith. Our attitude, commentary, analysis, blogging, documents and links must be geared towards building up the faithful, fostering good will, encouraging the pursuit of sainthood and Christian perfection in imitation of Our Lord Jesus Christ. In the end, whatever we do, we do it in the name of the Lord (cf. Col. 3:17) If we are not becoming saints, we are doing nothing.
There are many troubles in the world and Church today. It is easy to be caught up in the negative and even become preoccupied with the daily turmoil. The endeavor of this site is to address key issues in the Church through a faithful application of Church teaching in areas of dogmatic, moral, scriptural and mystical theology. My mission and prayer for you is that CatholiCurrent helps you in your spiritual journey towards an ever deepening union with God.

About Deacon Gannon ...
Deacon Dan Gannon is the Director, Editor in chief and founder of CatholiCurrent.com. As a Roman Catholic Deacon ordained for the Diocese of La Crosse, Wisconsin, he serves as deacon at The Church of the Nativity of Mary, located near Prescott, Wisconsin. He and his wife, Lisa have four children Michael, Patrick, Clare and Marie.
Dcn. Gannon graduated from the University of St. Thomas in St. Paul, MN with a B.A. in Thomistic Philosophy. He holds a law degree from William Mitchell College of Law in St. Paul, MN and is a member of the Minnesota State Bar Association. Dcn Gannon was director of new product development at Thomson-Reuters for several years, co-developing KeyCite, a premier legal research tool integral to Westlaw.com. He is currently serving as founding President and CEO of Catholic Senior Services (CSS), which is affiliated with the Archdiocese of St. Paul and Minneapolis. CSS coordinates and connects seniors to parish-integrated Catholic senior care, housing and services throughout the Archdiocese of St. Paul and Minneapolis in communion with the Archbishop. CSS consists of several Catholic senior care providers in the Archdiocese.
Dcn. Gannon is a deacon, husband and father, teacher, theologian, lawyer and CEO, retreat master, spiritual director and writer. He is available to lead retreats, days of reflection, or provide energetic and hard-hitting apologetics and catechesis in any areas of Theology. He especially enjoys teaching and leading retreats, calling upon the mystical theology of the great Carmelite Doctors of the Church and the Catechism of the Catholic Church.
